Our report also shows how the number of deaths per 1000 people in the peak COVID year of 2020 was LESS than it was in the 10 years from 1993-2003.

How these figures were compiled

The figures we reveal are the result of hours of exclusive analysis of by our team, based on detailed research of millions of lines of raw data from the Office for National Statistics.

The ONS produce a very large number of reports and spreadsheets, and these include many breakdowns by topics such as ‘ethnic diversity’. We cut through all of these and compiled the main summary information you see above.

Because of the devolved administrations in Scotland and Northern Ireland reporting differently and usually a considerable period of time later, we were not able to include them in our analysis. Therefore all the data refers to England and Wales although we suspect it will be similar for the other two nations of the UK.

Where is the ‘COVID pandemic crisis’?

A striking feature of our research shows that the deaths per 1000 people in the peak Covid year of 2020 were LOWER than in the first 10 years of our period of analysis, from 1993-2003.

In the second ‘COVID year’ of 2021 the comparison is even more stark. This reveals that deaths per 1000 in 2021 were broadly the same as the average over the past 30 years (9.8 versus 9.7).

Observations

In our report above we have provided the first historical analysis of deaths per 1000 people in England and Wales. In using such a long period (1993-2023) it is possible to draw conclusions which take out anomalous effects in particular years.

We believe it is impossible to conclude otherwise than that the draconian removal of our civil liberties in 2020 and 2021 were wholly unwarranted. These were the most severe curtailments on freedoms in peacetime, in living memory.

With the benefit of our historical analysis it seems that such actions by the UK’s and other western governments were on a scale which far exceeded the perceived or actual threat. On top of this, we now have an ever-increasing number of warnings from reputable medical professionals and bodies of an expected increase in excess deaths as a result of the lockdowns – from cancer and heart disease amongst other conditions – and this comes on top of the warnings about the effects on our young people, on mental health, and on the normal expectation to “go back to work”.

Only yesterday the British Heart Foundation (BHF) warned that early deaths from heart disease have soared by nearly 13% since the pandemic. The Associate Director at the BHF said that the country is now living "“in the grip of the worst heart care crisis in living memory”. Sadly we expect similar effects when it comes to cancer, although these take longer to become apparent.

What evidence is there to prove your assertion?
Sweden did not impose draconian Covid shutdown measures and yet their figures for excess deaths
post Covid are lower than most other countries.
I would give you a link for this, but as we're not allowed to give links, please google the following:-

I'm sorry but anyone can see the downward trajectory was halted by the 2016 referendum result.
Then when we actually left the EU there is a definite increase.
This proves that Brexit costs lives.

Sorry to point this out, but that chart of "Deaths per 100,000...." is pretty much statistical malpractice. The difference between 10.18 and 10.65 is quite small, but you have adjusted the baseline to make it look huge. You can make your point without doing things like that.

Britain has too much potential to allow Labour back into Government just to naively punish the Conservatives for their antic's over the last several Years from fully severing from the EU thanks to May's withdrawal agreement and Sunak's Windsor framework con, facts4EU should unite with other Pro Brexit movements to get the Conservatives to get rid of the Unelected appointed Sunak before Britain gets a Hardleft Starmer Government inflicted on us, We have a Political class that does not believe in Britain unless We slavishly follow the USA NATO and IMF edicts We are at the point where We need to look at alternatives for Government instead of another tedious Labour or Conservative administration's The Social Democratic Party and Reform perhaps?

I presume you are being sarcastic? Making fun of the idea that leaving a trading organisation
can ever affect annual death rates?
If not, if you are serious, then please explain how leaving a trade organisation can possibly affect
the average life expectancy of Britons?
What most probably has affected death rates is the aftermath of the lockdown measures when we were told
to "save the NHS" - i.e. please don't bother going to see your doctor with "minor" complaints.
This has led to many people not being treated for heart disease, cancer and a host of other life-threatening diseases
until much later than they should have been, which inevitably has increased the rate of excess deaths over the norm
since the lockdown measures ended.

More seriously, I believe what we are seeing here is the result of obesity.
Persons brought up in the post-war years were rationed. Britain had rationing right up until 1957.
Even after that, most people had physical jobs which kept them active and, for the most part, slim. Children could play outside unsupervised all day.
That is why those generations lived so long. But recently there are more and more people who have been brought up in times of plenty getting old. It was always inevitable that the trend of ever increasing lifespan was going to reverse when that happened.
